Using MIGRA for
transition to LAN mail
Allina Health System is a network of Hospitals and Health Plans in Minnesota.
In keeping with the rapid changes in the health industry, Allina has grown
through a series of acquisitions and mergers to become the tenth largest
employer in Minnesota with nearly 20,000 employees. Much of the e-mail
environment is based upon IBM's OfficeVision/MVS mainframe product with a
user population of 5,000 people, coupled with DISOSS for filing Medical Records
and Transcriptions as well as SoftSwitch Central.
Allina has developed a strategy to migrate these users to a Client-Server
environment based around the Lotus cc:Mail and Organizer products. Part of
this strategy has involved the acquistition of the MIGRA product to help
the migration project.
"MIGRA is an important part of the strategy" says John Brinkman, Allina's
Manager of Groupware Strategies & Services. "MIGRA has provided us a
much easier way to move users File Cabinets and In-Baskets to the new
environment, has given the users the flexibility they needed to determine
what information is to be migrated and this has resulted in much less resistant
to change".
