Patient Care Starts With Exchange Central™ for Busy Family Medical
Services Organization
The challenge: Enable 600 busy professionals scattered through the US eastern
seaboard to provide excellence in social services despite frequent
scheduling challenges
Care Development is a family services organization that employs over
600 professionals in several eastern states providing psychiatric,
psychological and educational services to children and families with a
variety of health and social challenges. Working in a fast-paced, complex
environment with thousands of clients, Care Development’s administrative
staff faces constant challenges in scheduling people and resources to
deliver the quality of care that everyone expects. Clients, doctors and
health specialists communicate continually to share information about
treatments and outcomes, which makes time and resource management a
complex undertaking.
Using Microsoft Exchange Server and a high-speed network connecting 30
offices from Maine to Florida, Care Development’s MIS staff implemented
a resource management system that allowed central switchboard operators to
view and manipulate 75 individual calendars. The company also selected
Exchange Central™ from Add-On Products to add enhancements to the system
to expand and simplify the operation of the scheduling system.
”We especially like the ‘spreadsheet’ format in Exchange Central
that lets us view a large number of calendars simultaneously,” said
Sharyl White, MIS manager for Care Development. ”It would be impossible
for to manage so many different people, resources and appointment
schedules without this innovative product from Add-On Products.”
Exchange Central’s unique capability enables Care’s scheduling team to
make frequent dynamic schedule changes, easily and instantly, that can be
viewed by administrators at widely dispersed locations throughout the
company. This powerful instant update function helps busy doctors stay on
top of their patient load without having to check for email messages
between appointments or every time something changes on the schedule.
”We couldn’t do what we do as well as we do it without Exchange
Central,” Care Development’s Sharyl White says. ”Simply stated, this
is a tool that every modern organization with complex scheduling
challenges should have at its disposal.
