Using Connect-ME
to integrate legacy with Microsoft Exchange
Fina Oil and Chemical is a large multi-national petrochemical company with
its North American headquarters based in Dallas, Texas.
In the US, Fina's e-mail environment has been based predominantly around
IBM's mainframe OfficeVision/MVS system as well as some DEC All-In-One and
Microsoft Mail LANs. As part of the gradual move to client-server systems,
Fina has selected Microsoft's
Exchange Server product as its future client-server based electronic
messaging platform.
In order to support an orderly migration of the users from the mainframe
as well as to provide co-existance with the other messaging platforms in
the network, Fina has selected the
Connect-ME SNADS
Connector to link between the OfficeVision/MVS and Microsoft Exchange worlds.
Connect-ME is a Windows NT-based connector that provides seamless, bi-directional
message interchange between Microsoft Exchange Server and SNADS-based systems.
Comments Tim Slattery, Fina's Supervisor of Business Systems Support,
"Connect-ME has allowed our initial group to remain connected to the real
world without actually impacting how Officevision people send their messages.
It has worked well for us to be able to do our testing in Exchange while
staying in touch with the rest of the corporation".
