Using Connect-ME for a managed migration
The Leviton Family of Companies was established in 1906 and today includes
Leviton for electrical wiring devices, Leviton Telcom for communications
premise wiring products, American Insulated Wire for wire, and cable, and
Electricord for power supply cords and cord sets.
Leviton products are used for Industrial, Commercial and Residential construction
and maintenance, including switches, receptacles, lighting controls, plugs
and connectors, TVSS devices, wallplates and more, all designed to the highest
standards of quality, dependability, and performance.
Based in Flushing, NY, Leviton has for some time run the Software AG Con-nect
product on their IBM mainframe for e-mail, supporting some 3,000 users.
Recently, the company has expanded its client-server environment and, as
part of that move, has established the Microsoft Exchange Server suite as
its future direction for electronic messaging. However, during the migration
from host to PC, there was a requirement to integrate these two disparate
e-mail systems together. The easiest way to do this was through the IBM SNADS
e-mail protocol. After installing and testing the product in its own environment
Leviton chose Connect-ME from ReSoft International to do the job.
"Connect-ME provides us with a robust yet easy-to-use gateway between
the two environments allowing us to manage the timing of our migration to
the Microsoft Exchange platform" comments Diva Divakaran, Chief Technologist.
