E-mail integration with the Dealer channel via
OfficePath
Mazda America is a longtime user of IBM's OfficeVision/MVS product, with
800 active users across its organization. Key to its operations is improvement
in the speed of communication between itself, its 775 dealers across the
country, its external vendors and its field staff.
Mazda selected Advantis to provide connectivity between dealers and the field
staff, enabling fast electronic communication between the two groups. This
will be enhanced by the installation of OfficePath/SNADS, from ReSoft
International, which allows these groups to communicate with the Headquarters
OfficeVision/MVS system. OfficePath has been installed at the data center
to provide a mail hub between OV/MVS and the rest of the user community.
Security is also an important issue to Mazda. Consequently, the exits available
in OfficePath have been utilized to build a firewall which controls the
availability of e-mail addresses to which external people can send mail.
