New - MIGRA
now supports migration to the OS/390 version of Lotus
Notes
MIGRA is designed to reduce the administrative burden in migrating users
and their active documents from a host e-mail environment to the LAN.
MIGRA lets your administrator do migrations, one user or an entire workgroup
at a time, with limited involvement on the part of the users.
MIGRA is made up of two components. The Export Agent resides on the mainframe.
From here, the administrator defines the users to be migrated and the parameters
for the migration. MIGRA can extract documents in one of two ways. Either
the administrator defines age criteria for the documents to be migrated,
or the user has the capability to flag specific documents to be migrated.
MIGRA also performs a check to ensure there will be sufficient space on the
LAN to accommodate this migration. Once extracted, MIGRA then mails the documents
to the Import Agent through the mail system at a time convenient to the
administrative staff.
The Import Agent resides on the LAN. It defines migrating users in the LAN
e-mail system and imports the mailed items. Items that were in the In-Basket
on the mainframe go to the in-box - unread items are highlighted. Items from
the File Cabinet are imported into the equivalent file folders on the LAN.
And the profile information of the original document is reset so the user
sees a true copy of their original work environment and can respond to mail
items without fear of mis-addressing the mail.
Even after the migration is complete, MIGRA redirects new mail destined for
the old user-id to the users new ID on the LAN.
On the host, MIGRA supports IBM's OfficeVision/MVS. On the LAN, MIGRA supports
importing to Lotus Notes, cc:Mail, Microsoft Mail and Microsoft Exchange
Server.
For the Lotus Notes user, MIGRA can be used with the
Lotus Domino Migration
Engine to additionally move Calendar items and Directory items. By
utilizing the Lotus Notes Migration Toolkit announced by Lotus, MIGRA has
been tightly integrated into the Lotus Notes Migration Server technology.
This version of MIGRA uses file transfer as its method of moving
information from the mainframe to the server.
And for users of Novell GroupWise, HP OpenMail or other client-server e-mail
systems, the MIGRA Export Agent can be used independently to extract and
mail documents from the host system.

DEPARTURE is a set of source-code utilities designed to simplify the migration
of documents from IBM's DISOSS Library management product.
Many companies are looking to move away from the DISOSS mainframe-based platform
and move to PC and LAN-based products, such as Lotus Notes. The problem facing
such organizations is how to migrate sometimes vast quantities of existing
documents from DISOSS to the new system. Since DISOSS provides no utility
for extracting documents, the only method for accessing documents is to use
the DISOSS API, which is complex and difficult to use for anyone except an
experienced user. But now the migration of DISOSS documents can be achieved
more easily using the following two components.
DEPARTURE is a set of source code utilities that provide a framework for
developing a migration strategy from DISOSS. The product has parameters that
can be customized to meet specific document migration allowing, for instance,
selective document extract.
DEPARTURE uses RAPID (Real-time Application Programming Interface to DISOSS)
provides an easy to use front-end to remove the complexities of the DISOSS
API.
KEYpak is a suite of high-fidelity document converters designed to help
organizations in the co-existence and migration of documents between different
e-mail and text processing platforms.
Whereas e-mail connectivity enables an organization to migrate documents
from legacy e-mail to LANs, the content of the document is not necessarily
usable once it reaches the target system. Filters available in word processors
and e-mail systems do basic conversions but lose many of the special characters.
KEYpak overcomes this problem by performing document conversion from one
format to another, from some 130 word processing systems and 17 graphics
types. These document types include not only the modern popular PC systems
but also a list of legacy document types to help in the migration of users
to client-server technology.
File Reporter technology in KEYpak analyzes the document before converting
and determines its type, regardless of file extension. This feature can be
used stand-alone to identify up to 200 document types.
KEYpak supports major legacy document types - including MASS11, IBM RFT,
IBM FFT, DEC WPS-PLUS, IBM DCF-Script.
KEYpak allows co-existence between advanced text processing systems like
MSWord, RTF, WordPerfect, AmiPro.
KEYpak allows the batching of groups of documents for conversion.

CLASY is a system for managing the archiving of the OfficeVision/MVS Personal
Services (or PS/CICS) document pool.
CLASY is designed to help in two scenarios;
a). For organizations wishing to migrate users to LAN e-mail without migrating
all their documents
b). For organizations wishing to improve space management in their existing
OfficeVision/MVS environment
CLASY acts like a hierarchical storage management (HSM) system. It automatically
migrates inactive items to archive storage. Your existing users benefit because
their in-basket and file cabinets are no longer cluttered with old items.
CLASY allows them to retrieve items from archive by themselves, even items
they may have accidentally deleted or lost in the on-line system.
For users who migrate to LAN systems, CLASY has already archived their host
documents. So from their new environment users can directly access their
personal document archive without using OV/MVS and without any administrative
effort.
OfficePath is a CICS based tool designed to aid co-existence and migration
between OfficeVision/MVS, OfficeVision/VM, PROFS and CA-Email and LAN e-mail
systems. It provides a robust SNADS message exchange facility between the
host and LAN environments.
REDIRECTOR - As mail passes through the OfficePath hub, its Redirector feature
examines the user-ids of the originator and the recipients and, where requested,
changes them. This is particularly useful when a user has migrated to the
LAN but mail is still being delivered to the old legacy id. OfficePath can
be used to trap and redirect these messages to the new destination.
MESSAGE TRACKING - Once a migration has commenced, the successful delivery
of mail between the old and new systems becomes paramount to the project
success. OfficePath provides sophisticated on-line message tracking to ensure
no e-mail messages get lost during the transition period.
INTEGRATION BETWEEN LAN E-MAIL AND EXISTING LEGACY APPLICATIONS - When a
user is migrated to the LAN, there is often application information the user
requires that still resides on the host. OfficePath provides "mail-enabling"
capabilities to allow output from host applications to be e-mailed to the
users new LAN based system.
