SAVE EVEN MORE BANDWIDTH WITH PREMIUM GROUPS

Productivity Premium Group  - Productivity Management categories include:

  1. Message Boards & Clubs   - Sites for personal and business clubs, personal and business discussion groups, and list servers.
Limit access to message boards, clubs, discussion groups and list
  2. Advertisements - Sites that provide advertising servers, as well as individual banner ads from the most frequently visited Internet sites.
Bypass distracting banner ads on employee desktops and save up to 10 percent of your bandwidth.
  3. Freeware/Software Download - Sites that provide Freeware/Software downloads.
Allow IT to retain control of desktop and client software, and manage bandwidth consumption by limiting access to Freeware/Software download sites.
  4. Instant Messaging* - Sites that provide client software that enables Instant Messaging.
Stop Instant Messaging at the source before it starts.
  5. Online Brokerage & Trading - Sites that support active trading of securities and management of investments.
Limit the productivity drains of day trading and 401(k) stock "flipping".
  6. Pay-to-Surf Sites - Sites that pay people to surf or send email.
Prevent temptation and manage employee productivity by blocking Pay-to-Surf Sites, which receive a large part of their traffic during the workday.

*Note: Instant Messaging sites will be blocked with this category, but if users have already installed IM software, administrators will not have the ability to manage Instant Messaging.

Bandwidth Premium Group II   categories include:

  1. Internet Radio & TV - Sites whose primary purpose is to provide radio or TV programming on the Internet.
Prevent the continuous strain of online radio from using up your bandwidth by blocking Internet Radio & TV sites.
  2. Peer-to-Peer File Sharing - Sites that provide client software to enable Peer-to-Peer File Sharing and file transfer.
Ensure information security and eliminate legal risks and the strain on your network performance by filtering the Peer-to-Peer File Sharing category.
  3. Personal Network Storage/Backup - Sites that store personal files on Internet servers for backup or exchange.
Conserve network bandwidth by limiting access to Personal Network Storage/Backup sites and avoid the risk of any work-related files going out to the Internet.
  4. Internet Telephony - Sites that enable users to make telephone calls via the Internet or obtain information or software for this purpose.
Block Internet Telephony and prevent employees from placing non-work-related voice telephone calls over the Internet to conserve network bandwidth.
  5. Streaming Media - Sites that primarily provide Streaming Media content, such as movie trailers.
Control the biggest bandwidth hog of them all by blocking Streaming Media sites.

Security Premium Group  - Malicious Web Sites & SpyWare:

By blocking the Malicious Web Sites category, you can prevent employee access to sites infected by malicious mobile code (MMC).

  • Proactively minimize the risk of MMC attacks in the workplace, including Web-borne viruses, Trojan horses, worms, script attacks and rogue Internet code.
  • Block potentially harmful, security-risk sites and minimize the risk of harmful modification to corporate desktops and servers.
  • Add a convenient and effective layer of protection against malicious code at the Internet gateway.
  • Stop malicious code at its source, before it can enter the corporate network.

Spyware is software that gathers information without the user's knowledge and relays it to advertisers or other interested parties. It can collect and transmit information on keystrokes, Web surfing habits, passwords, email addresses and more. By blocking the Spyware category, customers can:

  • Block the communication between Spyware applications and their host servers.
  • Stop the distribution of employee information to unknown parties.
  • Prevent liability and bandwidth issues for their organizations.
  • Identify the presence of Spyware applications and activities on their networks by generating reports with Websense Reporter.

The Security Premium Group is automatically updated daily with newly infected sites, so you can help to protect your network from the latest Web-borne viruses and other malicious Web content without intervention.

According to the Department of Justice, the Nimda worm cost companies considerable downtime and an estimated clean-up cost of $2.6 billion. By implementing the Security Premium Group, you can add another layer of protection against Web-based viruses.
