Archive Attender/Mail Attender - new versions make a winning combination
Recent improvements in the Archive Attender/Mail Attender suite of products add significant capabilities to the products for managing retention, deletion and archiving of email, including:

• indexing of all content stored in the archives, facilitating quick and comprehensive searches of the data
• the ability for the user search their own Archive Attender archives
• archiving from network-accessible PST files
• the Mail Attender console keeps every version of a rule in the database. The admin will be able to go back to an earlier version of a rule to compare the changes of a rule over time and allow them to track what has changed and by whom.
• the Mail Attender "worker service" has a console and is able to "stand-alone" without the need of the "master service", which decreases Mail Attender’s upgrade/installation size and time.
• .NET Console for the Mail Attender Master Service provides the admin with the ability to pull information directly from Outlook or Exchange.
• the Mail Attender statistics summary screen has graphical reporting, allowing a visual representation of the contents the information stores.
• Automated PST File Compacting after a Mail Attender Rule has Finished Processing

Spy Sweeper Enterprise - new V2.0 is the next generation of enterprise-class, centrally managed anti-spyware.
Spy Sweeper Enterprise 2.0 delivers improved scalability, load balancing, and bandwidth conservation for definition and software updates. New automated server throttling and randomization techniques manage peaks in client requests, and Microsoft SQL Server support allows a single server to support very large numbers of clients as well as custom reporting. The addition of a mobile client update feature allows users to stay current on spy definitions when they are not connected to the corporate network. Spy Sweeper Enterprise 2.0 also allows administrators to send configuration changes or updates to clients immediately with the “Poll Now” capability and can block unwanted software usage and site access with customizable application and site blocking capabilities. Spy Sweeper Enterprise’s sweeps are now 20 percent faster, and enhanced spy detection algorithms catch the latest and most dangerous spyware programs.

To date, Spy Sweeper Enterprise has been deployed inside more than 2,500 enterprise networks representing more than 750,000 individual enterprise desktops and is armed with a comprehensive spy-ware threat database to detect and eradicate more than 42,000 spyware traces.

An ongoing corporate audit has scanned more than 12,200 systems to date, representing more than 4,900 companies has discovered an average of 22 pieces of spyware per corporate desktop computer, including malicious spy-ware infections. On average, eight percent of the PCs audited had system monitors and six percent had Trojan horse programs, the two most nefarious and potentially malicious forms of spyware.

Abington Memorial Hospital Increases Email Security and Deploys GlobalCerts for Email Encryption and HIPAA Compliance
Founded in 1914, Abington Memorial Hospital (AMH) is a fully accredited, not-for-profit, 508-bed community teaching hospital. AMH is a comprehensive regional health center serving people in Montgomery, Bucks and Philadelphia counties. It also has the only accredited Trauma Center in Montgomery County.

A great deal of AMH communications include email that is sent externally among various healthcare organizations as well as insurance carriers. This email requires sending ePHI (electronic Protected Health Information) related communications. With patient privacy being of the utmost importance to AMH, they began evaluating product solutions that would provide them with strong secure messaging. They needed a solution that was simple to use, manage and deploy while allowing them to comply with impending HIPAA requirements. Akonix reports Instant Messaging (IM) Policy is not enough... businesses are not prepared for the legal risks associated with IM
In a December 2004 Webcast titled Best Practices for IM in the Enterprise: an Essential IT Initiative for 2005, which polled nearly 300 companies, 60% of respondents stated that they do not have any solution in place to manage employee IM use. In addition, 38% of those polled have not yet rolled out a formal IM usage policy in their organization. Even among companies that have a policy against IM use, 21% report that employees openly flout company guidelines.

These results indicate that many businesses are still vulnerable to the legal, security and compliance implications of unmanaged IM use. The survey also reveals that setting an IM policy is just the first step towards ensuring companies are protected. Ultimately, enterprises need to implement an IM solution that can easily and seamlessly manage all IM use between co-workers, customers and partners.
