New Avinti
iSolation Server
stops new & unknown virus outbreaks by observing actual behavior
Avinti's new iSolation Server
enables businesses to have full control over an e-mail system - including
allowing the delivery of attachments and active content - without
resorting to shutting down the system or removing all incoming
attachments in the event of new virus outbreaks.
The iSolation Server
prevents e-mail containing new and unknown viruses from
spreading to unsuspecting users, working at the SMTP perimeter to:
- Intercept e-mail at the
network edge
- Execute and monitor the
e-mail behavior in a secure, virtual environment, and
- Quarantine any e-mail
exhibiting malicious behavior before delivery to the target user.
The key difference
between the Avinti solution and existing, signature-based antivirus
offerings is in it's use of virtual machines to test and examine the actual behavior of e-mail messages.
The Avinti iSolation
Server with virtual machine technology:
- Executes e-mail and
attachments in a virtual environment at the network edge, before
reaching the target user
- Observes the attempted
behavior of suspect e-mail to determine its intent
- Quarantines e-mail
demonstrating suspicious or malicious behavior
- Enables quarantined
e-mails to be analyzed and cleaned by an administrator for future
delivery.

New Certified
Mail white paper on support for HIPAA, GLB Sarbanes
Oxley & SEC compliance
Government privacy requirements such as the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Gramm-Leach-Bliley, and Sarbanes-Oxley mean that secure email has become a must-have, rather than a would-be-nice, for most businesses today.
Historically, email security has been a black art, the province of specialists in encryption, digital certificates, virtual private networks and key algorithms. But with so many everyday tasks in healthcare, finance, even human resources, now falling under privacy regulations, such an approach is no longer viable. Non-technical users need to be able to send secure communications at the touch of a button. And IT staffs need a turnkey approach so that they’re able to easily manage secure email alongside all their other tasks.
Whether you are looking for a hosted secure email service, or a self-contained in-house software solution, CertifiedMail can meet your needs. Over the past decade, CertifiedMail has developed and implemented a range of secure email solutions that are very easy to install, maintain, and use, and that meet all government-mandated security standards. CertifiedMail solutions are built on standard platforms, integrate with all major commercial email systems, and use commonly-implemented security standards. The result is a system that is transparent to end users, very simple to administer, and becomes an integral part of your business process.
It covers our entire range of secure HIPAA, GLB, Sarbanes-Oxley and SEC solutions available through the CertifiedMail platform, including our new:
- secure POP3 interface
- secure large file transfer up to 2Gb
- administrative archiving
- hosted service or in-house software version
- single sign-on to your existing network
- Web Services API in our upcoming v4 release

Boeing
joins the 25% of employers who have fired employees for violating
e-mail policy
According to the 2004 Workplace E-Mail and IM Survey from American
Management Association and ePolicy Institute, with 86% of employees
using company e-mail for personal correspondence, the risk of sexually
charged e-mail is huge. No wonder 20% of companies have had employee
e-mail subpoenaed, and 13% have battled e-mail-related lawsuits.
Instant Messaging increases risks for
workers who play it fast and loose with language: 58% engage in personal
IM at work, and 6% send sexual, romantic, pornographic content.
The ePolicy Institute offers tips to
avoid career-ending e-mail gaffes:
- Do not assume the exec in the corner
office knows better. Stonecipher is not the first CEO to trigger
e-mail disaster. In 2001, the CEO of Cerner Corp sent an e-mail that
triggered a 25% drop in stock valuation.
- Establish e-mail policy governing
language, usage and netiquette. Insist all employees, from summer
interns to the CEO, comply.
- Educate all employees about e-mail
risks, rules and regulations.
- Enforce e-mail policy with software:
87% of companies monitor e-mail; 10% monitor IM.
- If you monitor e-mail , notify
employees they have no reasonable expectation of privacy.
