A series of announcements strengthen the position of the MIMEsweeper suite for stopping not only SPAM, but all types of email and web threats in their tracks.

SPAMActive 1.5 is a new plugin to the MIMEsweeper Mailsweeper for SMTP product and harnesses a highly effective, layered detection and prevention method: 
- Real-time black hole list subscriptions 
- Anti-relay configuration 
- Domain Verification Methods 
- Local Black and White Lists
- Content Layer 
- Lexical Analysis 
- Heuristic Analysis 
- Bayesian Analysis
Local "training" improves message classification performance - reducing false positives through better understanding of "spam" and "not spam" thresholds.

Results are combined as a "rule set" to determine the probability that an individual message is "definitely spam," "maybe spam" or "not spam." Administrators have control over the classification thresholds so that policies can be fine-tuned. SPAMActive utilizes a policy feed updated 8 times per day from the the SPAMactive service.

Even greater protection is available when SPAMActive is coupled with other members of the suite:
MIMEsweeper Image Manager - analyzes and takes action against inappropriate picture images contained in email messages
MIMEsweeper-for-Web - a substantial new release which filters the content of a user's browser access to their Hotmail account or similar from within the company network - this can prevent the spread of web-sourced viruses and files, inappropriate content as well as loss of company secrets.

Archive One email archiving puts email in its place
Archive One is an archiving system that addresses the classical archiving requirement of identifying and moving items to a less critical store while addressing the need for cleaning the information stores, (e.g. only allowing messages up to 60 days old in a sent items folder). This unique approach is referred to as ‘capacity and content control’.

The need to archive is usually seen as the need to offload old unused data from the servers, but the continuing demands on server loadings are not going to go away. This is why Archive One includes a mechanism to quickly retrieve any archived message without any delay or impact on the user. Archived messages need not be thought of as ‘gone’, just ‘further away’.

Enterprise Server Magazine's review of Archive One says it is "Easy to set up and use, and the ghost message facility hides the process from users".

Akonix Instant Messaging Manager gets new AIM and MSN certifications

Caresouth implements TOVARIS for secure email services
