May 1st 1997, New Canaan, CT: ReSoft International and TBS
Software Inc. announce that the general availability of the MIGRA/PS-Export
for the Lotus Domino Migration Engine will be on May 16, 1997. MIGRA/PS-Export
allows customers of IBM OfficeVision/MVS to easily migrate user definitions,
electronic mail and calendaring data to Lotus Notes/Domino.
In related IBM OfficeVision to Lotus Notes Migration Announcements, IBM and
Lotus announce that all users of the IBM OfficeVision family will have the
opportunity to migrate to Lotus Notes. IBM will provide the tools for the
VM and AS/400 platforms while TBS Software, an IBM business partner with
extensive experience developing OfficeVision/MVS related software, will provide
the tool for the MVS platform. All of these migration tools rely on the new
Lotus Domino Migration Engine. Each OfficeVision to Notes migration tool
will include one copy of the Lotus Domino Migration Engine.
Clive Horton, President of ReSoft International comments "Information
stored in OfficeVision Directories, In-Baskets, File Cabinets and Calendars
represents years of investment and is vital to the continued smooth operation
of the customer's business".
Dorian Hausman of TBS Software adds "Migrating OfficeVision users without
a specialized migration tool is tedious. Users have to disrupt their work
to manually migrate a copy of each item they want to keep. And the administrator
must define all migrating users to Notes, delete old users and their mail
from OfficeVision, update directories, and notify everyone of the migrating
users' new addresses. No one needs this extra work. Users want the migration
to be transparent. Administrators want it to be a simple, smooth
operation".
MIGRA/PS-Export together with the Lotus Domino Migration Engine will:
-
define migrating users to Notes
-
simplify migrations by leading administrators through the migration process
-
let administrators migrate one user or group of users at a time
-
estimate how much space migrated data will occupy at the destination, before
starting a migration
-
reduce the volume of mail to be migrated by letting administrators pick exactly
what to export
-
handle all the types of Personal Services directory information that you
need to migrate: user definitions, distribution lists, nicknames and other
personal address book information
-
export users' mail and file it away on their behalf at the destination
-
track all migrating users and mail, to ensure that nothing gets lost
-
notify users that they have been migrated
-
redirect new mail that is sent to migrated users' old OfficeVision/MVS user
IDs
-
retain mail profile information, in order that:
-
mail that was in an OfficeVision/MVS In-Basket goes to the corresponding
Notes Inbox
-
tagged items from the OfficeVision/MVS File Cabinet go to corresponding Notes
folders
-
the original send date/time and read/unread status are preserved
-
users can reply to their migrated mail.
MIGRA/PS-Export migrates:
-
