November 17th 1997 - New Canaan, CT: ReSoft International announces it has
entered into a distribution agreement with Pembroke International
of the UK for the Document Transform Server product.
Document Transform Server (DTS) is the first of a family of new products
jointly developed by Pembroke International and David Goodenough & Associates
Ltd, (DGA) both of the UK.
DTS delivers transparent conversion of word processing documents between
Lotus Notes and IBM OfficeVision, enabling the free availability of information
in a mixed environment.
DTS is designed to help organizations who plan to migrate from OfficeVision
to Lotus Notes or for those who wish to co-exist between the two environments.
DTS operates in environments using all major Lotus Notes-Officevision email
gateway links including DGA's DGAteway, the IBM Mail LAN Gateway/2 (IMLG/2)
and Softswitch solutions.
DTS provides high quality transformation of mail messages with a DCA-RFT
attachment (in-bound to Notes), into Notes mail messages without attachments,
and from Notes to RFT for mail going from the local Notes server up to the
Host.
Using DTS, Documents and attachments sent from the Host will arrive at the
Lotus Notes addressee mailbox as true Lotus Notes documents and Messages
sent from Lotus Notes to the Host will arrive at the addressee mailbox as
DCA-RFT messages.
This allows users on OfficeVision to receive a Lotus Notes document in DCA-RFT
form, complete with all rich-text functions, not just underline, bold, italics
etc. Users in Lotus Notes can receive documents from the OfficeVision system
in Notes RTF format - without having to process complex attachments.
Transformation server throughput and performance statistics can be queried
and recorded. All Transformation events are logged, including detailed log
files created as each document is transformed. The system is designed to
be as transparent to users and as manageable for administrators as possible.
Frank Shell, Managing Director of Pembroke International says "The DTS
product is designed to assist organizations in easing their transition
from legacy OfficeVision document formats to Lotus Notes. One of its key
features is making documents accessible in the Notes environment without
needing special additional software"
Clive Horton, President of ReSoft International adds "There are still
many users of IBM OfficeVision systems in place who's speed of migration
is hampered by having to process complex legacy document formats. For those
users moving to Lotus Notes, this product removes one of the main
obstacles".
ReSoft International, located in New Canaan CT, provides value-added software
tools to the larger users of electronic messaging systems to enable
them to become more effective in the provision of the service to their users.
These tools address the issues of downsizing from and co-existing between
mainframe 'legacy' systems and the newer LAN/Client-Server systems.
